What is a UUID v4?
A UUID is a 128-bit identifier commonly written as 32 hexadecimal digits grouped in an 8-4-4-4-12 pattern. Version 4 UUIDs are generated from random bits, with specific bits reserved to mark the version and variant. UUIDs are designed to make collisions very unlikely; they are not a substitute for secrets or access tokens.
UUID format example
A UUID v4 has a format such as xxxxxxxx-xxxx-4xxx-yxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx, where y is one of 8, 9, a or b.
Format structured data with the JSON Formatter, or convert integers with the Number Base Converter, or encode text with the Base64 Converter.
