JSON Formatter and Validator
Format JSON with readable indentation, minify it for compact output, and validate its syntax. Your data stays in your browser.
Validated and formatted instantly in your browser. Your JSON is not uploaded.
How to format and validate JSON
Paste JSON into the input box and select Format JSON or Minify JSON. The formatter first validates the syntax, then displays an indented or compact result. Invalid JSON produces a parser error instead of a formatted result.
What makes JSON valid?
JSON uses double-quoted strings and property names, commas between items, and the values true, false, null, arrays, objects and numbers. Comments and trailing commas are not part of standard JSON.
Formatting without changing number text
This tool preserves the original JSON tokens while changing whitespace and indentation. That avoids rounding long numeric literals during formatting. It does not sort object properties or change values.
Convert integers between bases with the Number Base Converter, or encode URL components with the URL Encoder and Decoder, or work with HTML characters using the HTML Entity Converter, or generate unique identifiers with the UUID v4 Generator.
