Volume Normaliser

Measure a recording's average level, choose a target, and adjust its volume while keeping the sample peak below a safe ceiling.

Audio is measured and adjusted on your device, not uploaded.

This tool adjusts average sample RMS, not broadcast LUFS loudness. It applies a single gain and does not compress or limit dynamics.

Audio stays in your browser. This tool uses average RMS measurements and is not a broadcast-standard LUFS meter.

How volume normalization works

  1. Choose an audio file supported by your browser.
  2. Review the measured RMS and sample peak.
  3. Select a target RMS level, normalize, then preview or download the WAV.

One gain adjustment, no compression

The normaliser applies one constant gain to the whole recording. This changes average level without compressing or limiting dynamics. The gain is capped so the sample peak does not exceed −1 dBFS. RMS is a useful average-level estimate, but it is not the same as perceptual LUFS loudness or true-peak measurement.

Convert the sample rate with the Audio Converter or change playback speed with the Speed Changer.
