Silence Remover

Find long quiet pauses in a recording and shorten them while preserving a little space around speech. Adjust the detection settings, then preview and download the edited file.

Audio is analyzed and edited in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.

Quiet is measured using the loudest channel in short windows. Export is uncompressed 16-bit PCM WAV; larger files may take longer to process.

Silence detection uses the audio level, not speech recognition. It runs locally in your browser and may not distinguish quiet speech from background noise.

How silence removal works

  1. Choose an audio file your browser can decode.
  2. Adjust the quiet threshold, minimum duration and retained pause.
  3. Analyze the recording, review the estimated duration, then export.

Choose detection settings carefully

A higher threshold (closer to zero dBFS) treats more low-level sound as quiet; a lower threshold only detects very quiet sections. Increase the minimum duration to avoid changing brief gaps. The edge padding helps preserve word beginnings and endings. Check the result before using it, especially if the recording contains whispers or quiet background sounds.
