How to convert fuel efficiency and estimate trip cost
Enter a trip distance in kilometers or miles, your vehicle's fuel efficiency in liters per 100 kilometers or US/UK miles per gallon, and the local fuel price per liter or US gallon. The cost uses the same currency units as the fuel price.
Fuel cost formula
Fuel needed is calculated after converting distance to kilometers and efficiency to liters per 100 kilometers. MPG conversions use different constants for US and UK gallons. Fuel needed is then multiplied by the price in the selected volume unit to estimate trip cost.
Estimate only
This estimate assumes the entered consumption and fuel price stay constant for the trip. Actual fuel use and cost can vary with traffic, route, driving conditions, vehicle load and price changes. It does not include tolls or other travel costs.
